Batu Bolong Beach Lombokis located 9 km from Mataram (capital of Lombok). Batu Bolong Beach has a big rock with a huge hole in it. It is a good place to see the amazing sunset from Lombok Strait. After the sunbathing, relaxing and frolicking on this wonderful beach, you can try to stay until the evening to watch one of the best stunning sunset you have ever seen when the sun goes down slowly and started to to disappear behind the Mount Agung Bali with incredibly flaming colors. A Hindu temple lies ontop facing the Lombok Strait and beyond is the contour of majestic Mount Agung of Bali. Colorful and musical religious ceremonies are often held in this beautiful temple.

At the tip is an empty chair representing Brahma, the god of creation. Free entry, but you’ll have to loan a sash (Rp. 5,000 a throw) from one of the urchins if you don’t have one already. Sunsets seen from here can be very impressive.

 Batu Bolong Beach LombokThe first of the two small mountains which are passed from Ampenan, named Batu Layar, contains the dedicated grave of one of the islamic saints (wali) which spread the islam on Lombok. The local population prays near a shrine close to the road. It’s possible to walk from the summit of the second mountan to the Balinese temple along the beach of Batu Bolong.

The German-owned Dream Divers (Jl. Raya Senggigi, PHONE: 0370/693738) also has English-speaking dive masters.

How to get to Batu Bolong Beach?
Senggigi is about 15 to 20 minutes north of Mataram and its airport. Taxis charge around Rp. 30,000 for the trip, while bemos will cover the distance for under Rp. 5,000.

Taxis are common and even the ones waiting around for customers are usually happy to use th meter. Bemos also zip through Senggigi on their way north and south and are happy to pick up passengers; pricing is a little random, but a couple of thousand rupiah will suffice for most trips.
